100% Pinot Noir
From a sustainably-farmed parcel of 40 year old vines planted on clay/limestone soils located in the southern end of Nuits- Saint George, right next to the 1er cru Nuits Saint Georges Clos de la Marechal, and the village of Corgoloin.
Traditional, cold maceration, punch-down and pumping-over twice a day, fermentation takes 12-15 days. Aged in 228L oak barrels, 25% new oak, for 12-15 months depending on the vintage.
Tasting Notes:
"Delicious and very lithe, the 2020 Eric Vairet Cotes de Nuits-Villages Rouge is wonderfully musty on the nose, with ripe, black raspberry and black cherry notes alongside shades of white truffle. Very substantial, with serious weight and underly finesse and salty undercurrents, this is complex, delicious wine to consume now and over the next fifteen years."
- 93 points, Owen Bargreen
Food Pairing:
Boeuf bourguignon, grilled turkey, cheese.
About Eric Vairet:
Maison Vairet was born following a friendship and an understanding between two people. Indeed, Eric Vairet and Damien Gachot, childhood friends, have always had the passion for wine. Moreover, Eric Vairet has been producing wines from the Gachot Monot estate since 1994 and participates in the production of recognized wines. So it was quite naturally that they wanted to go further by creating a trading company with the aim of offering their customers (or friends?) the best Burgundy wines at an excellent quality/price ratio. Combining Damien Gachot's experience with Eric Vairet's passion, Maison Vairet combines seriousness and quality in the various products it offers.
